Memo: Time to Party!

Okay, I told myself if I ever broke the Stamping 100 barrier I would do the blog candy thing. The counter is so close, just 2 away as I type this. So, I thought it would be fun to offer a little snacklet, now.... I ever break the top 50, it will more of a full course meal!

The card is part of the Featured Stamper Challenge hosted by Bethie every week over at SCS. The object is to use a card from the featured stamper as a jumping point for a card based on one of their designs. Change at least 2 things about the original card and give *props* to the artist of the week.

Let's just say this card meandered around quite a bit before ending up with what you see. It is very hard to stamp in the early morning after having a household full of teenagers celebrating Morgan's upcoming 14th birthday. And by household, I mean 18 (13 - 15 year olds) teens to be exact - lots of Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, pizza, snacks, and the like, make for lots of fun for the teens, and a need for ear plugs for me!

Without going into a lot of details, this card was made with SU! stamps, papers, inks, and accessories and is 4.25 x 4.25 in size. Exception to the SU! rule is the $1 stamp from Michaels and the caribbean grosgrain.

I will randomly pick someone on Morgan's true birthday, Wednesday, April 25th to receive this blog candy snacklet. The snacklet includes: The card, the 2 $1 stamps, and 3 rolls of that fun ribbon on the wooden spools. Okay, the requisite question is this -

What is your fondest memory of your first teen party? Or any teen party memory, I suppose!?

ETA - tired mom brain I tell ya! I'll share mine, too. I went a number of teen parties growing up, and had fun at so many of them. I have to say what I remember fondly was 7th grade and slow dancing in the living room of a friend's home to side 2 of The Best of Bread. LOL, just dated myself, eh?!

Thanks so much for stopping by and for all of your kind comments over the last few weeks!

Supplies: Stamps: Office Accoutrement, EFP (SU!), Time to Party (Michaels), Papers: Cool Caribbean, So Saffron, Regal Rose, Taken With Teal, Whisper White, Petals & Paisley Designer Paper, Inks: Cool Caribbean, Regal Rose, So Saffron, Old Olive, Accessories: Spiral Punch, Spring Bouquet Punch, Corner punch, Paperclip, Grosgrain ribbons, Clear Button, Dimensionals

My sweet aunt gave me a surprise 16th birthday party and invited all my friends - it was a special day! The only gift that I remember that I got was a Simon & Garfunkel album. (there were others - I just can't remember the rest)

My bday is in January so we used to either go ice skating or roller skating - fun memories of skating at the roller rink checking out the cute boys. My step father gave me a dozen red roses - my first on my 16th birthday. It was so special.

My first party was a Hallowe'en party...it was fun but a little nerdy! 18 kids at your house...that's crazy!

Hmmm, first teen party.... most have been the pool party at my friend Vicki's house. We were so nervous about having boys over and looking cool in our bathing suits...I don't even think we talked to the boys the whole time! Ha!

Oh Val...you crack me up!

My best memory was when my boyfriend (my husband now) and I got all dressed up in formals and went to a cast party of a show we were in. Tim wore the a tux (with tails) and a top hat. I wore a fabulous red satin dress that was my mom's back in the 50's! I love looking at the picture of us at that party!

AT the very 1st teen party I went to everyone wanted to play "spin the bottle". Well, I didn't know what it was... so I was the only one who DIDN'T play! So glad I didn't! I just watched everyone get grossed out at who they had to kiss. blaaahhaahaa

I don't remember my first teen party (I'm not sure which party came first) but I do remember a particularly fun slumber party at my house. On my 16th b-day, my good friend rolled her BMW convertible down the hill to start it down the road so my parents wouldn't hear and we drove to my crush's house. So naughty, huh?

i always remember my 14th birthday... it wasn't anything extravagant, but i just remember feeling so loved by friend and family! :)

Oh boy, that's a tough question, Val...let's see...a memory of a teen party...I'm seeing big hair (it was the 80's for cripes sakes), Meatloaf playing, and innocent flirting...there, that's it!

When I turned 16, My Mom had a party for me at a nice restaurant with lots of my friends. Her best friend made me the most beautiful cake and my Mom got me a corsage.
She made it the most special day for me. We had had a really bad year the year before so she had to sacrafice a lot to do it for me. Thinking about it makes me realize how great my Mom is to me. Thanks for the memories!!!

My memory was I invited about 20 of my school friends to come for a party. Little did I know one of my friend passed the info. to the whole school. Well needless to say it was crazy even the cops were called.

This is a really new memory. My daughter Sarah just turned 16 on April 13th. We had a great party planned with a Fifties theme and at the last minute decided to spring for a DJ. She ended up having about 35 kids show up. They had such a great time, most were dressed in 50s get-ups. They hula hooped and danced the night away. I hope she will remember this party always! I know I will.

My first teen party??? I can barely remember my surprise 30th party! The only details I can remember were that I made a new pink halter top to wear and I bought a bottle of Love's Lemon Spray to smell good.

Mine would have to be a chocolate fondue gathering outside on a summer night with a group of ten or so. Lots of laughs and lots of chocolate, fun!

I would have to say pool parties with the girls! Love the card by the way!

My favorite teen parties were pajama parties with the girls! Lots of giggling and placing 'stupid' phone calls...."Do you have Prince Albert in a can?...if so let him out"! I think Prince Albert was a pipe tobacco. But we thought we were sooooooooo funny.

Congrats! I would have to say my first teen party was a boy/girl party and I went without telling my mom there would be boys there. Of course she found out and I got in huge trouble!

Oh definitely spin the bottle - but the best teen party was at our friend Steve's house - Todd and his friends were entrepreneurs back then. Steve's parents moved to SC and left him at the house with his college age sister. So the house was a party spot. Todd and Steve (his best friend) and Mark (another friend) bought a few kegs (which were easy to come by at Union Beverage) - and sold $5 tickets to the party - there were like 200 people there. INSIDE a 1900 sq foot colonial. The cops arrived and tried to come in - but Steve and Todd and Mark got everyone to be totally quiet. The cops ended up leaving because they couldn't hear a sound. I remember they were going around the back yard, the side yard. Everything was still in the house. The guys had the kegs inside and one would be in charge and slow pour the drinks and when the keg was gone - they would wait about 30 minutes to hook up the new keg. They made a ton of $ on the party!

My first teen party was in the living room of 2 junior high friends. I was asked to dance--my very first time--I was so nervous. I stepped all over his feet. We danced to the Boxtops song, "The Letter" WOW! Talk about a trip down memory lane.

For my 13th birthday, I was able to invite as many girlfriends over for a slumber party as I wanted! I think there ended up being 9 or 10 girls at my house -- and it was SO FUN! We watched videos, played ATARI, and giggled ALL night long! My mom yelled at us SEVERAL times to shhhhhhhh, but we were 13, and giggly. =)

I personally never had parties-but I do remember one I went to (the parents were not home and it was just 4 girls and 4 guys). I had a crush on Larry Fox-and everyone knew it but Larry, so the others decided to get us together somehow. One of the girls, who I thought was my best friend decided she also wanted Larry for her beau. So she decided to start a game of strip poker (we were 9th graders) and she had no problem getting him as she cheated to lose. I left shortly after the game started and never went to another party until I threw one for myself when I got married 3 years later(I had eloped so it was not right away) I didnt marry Larry-never kissed him either. I decided high school boys were not my style and waited and when I turned 18, got me a older already out of college guy-we have been together 35 years. But I still hate parties.Don't go to them , dont throw any either.!

hmmmm - Best teenage party was on my sweet 16th birthday. It was the first boy and girl party I ever had. Everyone had a great time, played music, food (bbq), and stayed up to the wee hours of the morning. We even played some silly teen games (wink):)

Val love your blog - thanks.

Oh my gosh...this brings back some memories. I remember when all the cool girls decided they should be "fahionably late" to the party. Well, at one party we were all sitting around waiting for them to arrive (we were in grade 7 at the time) when one of the boys suggested we just get started wtihout them. So, out went the lights, on went the music, and when the other girls arrived the party, much to their chagrin, was already in full swing!

I love this blog and these comments! One of my fondest party memories was a b-day party for my best friend's birthday. It was a sleep over at her house and we planned all the games etc. One game was one we made up and put little "fortunes" inside balloons. We put good ones in the ones for she and I and all the rest of the party goers got gross ones. For instance--we got the "eat a handful of M & M's" where the others got something like, "stick an M&M up your nose then eat it". Makes me laugh but be grossed out at the same time!

My 18th birthday was my golden birthday. We went to the French Quater and partied most of the night on Bourbon Street. You could get into a bar at 18 then.

My first official boy/girl party and I was so excited. Everyone was talking about this big party. I got my make up perfect, got the right outfit on and I was out the door. A bowl of pretzel and a 2 liter bottle of Coke and only about 15 people, it was so boring. The best part of the whole party was the music (The Cure and Depeche Mode era) even though there was no dancing!! I felt like such a nerd for showing up to a lame party!!!

I had planned a little get together for my 16th bday.Everyone that I had invited told me that they couldn't make it.I was devastated! Then my Best Freind's mom picked me up for bowling. SHe said she had to run downtown to the Chatt CHoo Choo (hotel) to drop something off to a client. When we got to the hotel room, the door opened and there were all my firends. They had thrown me a suprise Sweet 16 Party! I cried bc it was so sweet! That was the best surprise ever!

Wow, this is going to date me horribly! Okay, my best friend Kim decorated her garage and we set up her record player and 8 track tape player.(yikes) It was Kim's bday and we made pizzas, danced, and listened to Alice Cooper, The Cars and Fleetwood Mac. There were a few boys that came but I don't think we even acknowledged thier existance. :)
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

But, I had a great time and some of the neat guys did dance with me!!!

But we turned the tables on them! :)Wasn't my first party but it sure sticks in my memory! Great Candy!

I vividly remember lots of cast parties following our school musicals. My best friend Anne and I were inseparable (and unbearable, I'm sure!) and we decided to surprise everyone by showing up in matching T-shirts. We got the kind with the iron-on letters... mine said "Margarine" and hers said "Parkay!" Our favorite TV commercial at the time. How silly is that?!

It has to be a sleepover with all my girlfriends. We watched a movie, ate junk food, and stayed up all night talking about boys. Those were good times!

I really only remember one party that I attended. Well, one that sticks out in my mind so vividly that I still (at my old age) remember it..LOL!

I received my first kiss during a spin the bottle game. Do kids still play that game these days???
Who knows.... like they'd tell us or anyways!

Can I give my least favorite memory? My first party, we played Spin the Bottle, and when it landed on me, my "partner" said...eeww, I'm not kissing HER!!

Hmmm....Well, I don't remember my first teen party, but one I do remember is my graduation party. We had a huge BBQ in the back yard with lots of family and a ton of my friends. Val, I have to leave a comment just because your question just cracks me up! I remember my 16th birthday party very well. I invited a couple of friends and some boys who were a year or two older and we went to a roller skating place.
