The principal of our school is leaving after spending 8 years doing her thing at our school. PTSA decided that it would be fun to have each child draw, write a letter, or a note to her, and we would present it to her in a spiral bound album. They asked me if I would make the album, sure, why not.....I said. Okay, there are over 800 kids in grades K - 8 at our school. That would be ONE BIG ALBUM! So, instead, it was necessary to make an album for each grade level; there are clear protective inserts that the pages will slide into for viewing. There will plenty of expansion, thus the big coil!
These albums began life as the chipboard backings that come in most patterned papers. I buy them from my local scrapbook store, 5 sheets for $1. After cutting them to size and hitting the edges with white acrylic paint, I adhered the patterned paper to the chipboard, inside panels are SU! coordinating card stock. I used 3 varieties of this paper (Making Memories); paisley, harlequin, and stripes to cover them. Purple is one of our school colors and I happened to have this paper in my stash, so no need to go out and purchase any special paper, whew! The image panel is stamped with the star from Love It (SU!) and pierced with the matching template. Rio Seco is stamped with Short Order Alpha (SU!). Inks are ColorBox Fluid Chalk inks - Lavender and Charcoal.
Each book has a Cuttlebug tag secured to the coil (Zutter Bind It All) that denotes the grade level.
In addition to the 9 matching journals, I made 2 additional journals; one for Brett's teacher as an end of year gift. And the other for a good friend so that she could give one to her child's teacher as well.
I'm albumed out for tonight!
