While shopping at Target today for a few odds and ends, I ended up in the card department. I like to browse there to see what the card manufacturers are using on their cards. Of course, I always check out the absurd pricing! Anyway, short on time, and procrastinating this year, I was actually contemplating purchasing a card for Jay (his birthday is tomorrow), and a card something like this caught my eye.
Very simplistic, very much along the lines of what appeals to his design tastes. Anyway, flipped that card over and had sticker shock. Decided to be stealthly and take a pic with my camera phone for inspiration at home.
Apparently I don't know how it works as when I got home there was nothing there! No picture, nothing. I'm sure my kids would be rolling on the floor if they knew this, so let's keep that our little secret! LOL
Anyway, from what I remember, it was a textured block, off to the side, with a small tag. The Target one said "husband" well, to me *celebrate" was more appropriate for the occasion. I also gave it some texture with the Linen background stamp, distressed vanilla layer, and hemp. It needed one more thing, a simple flourish to the rescue. Carte Postale has a very nice, masculine looking flourish that was perfect.
Happy Birthday, honey!

Hey Val it looks great! Very masculine, but I see a touch of flourish too!! Im so used to makin' girly cards, I forget how to make manly-man cards!! lol
I will draw a sketch of a H-mark card, since my phone has no camera, and it would be *awkward* to take my digital in the store.....lol
What a wonderful idea for a guy card. Simple and elegant and could be done in so many styles with the same layout. Thanks for the inside info!
I have no doubt yours is much better! It is simple, elegant and masculine all in one. I must admit my DD knows how to "use" my phone much better than I do.
What a great card, love the simplicity and color combo. I am just learning the fine points of taking pictures with my phone
FANTASTIC card Val!
Oooooo...I love simple. I think they are sometimes the BEST looking cards :O) You did a wonderful job and I will keep your secret! Thanks for the inspiration.
Happy Birthday to your DH, Val! Great job with this masculine card! I bet your hubby loved it!
I love it.
