I mentioned in last night's post that I would share examples today from Asela Hopkins Bird Sampler set that is available today over at Cornish Heritage Farms, so here they are; a gull and a hummer. These are 2 of the 3 images in this set, the Many Thanks sentiment is included, as well as a quote by J.R.R. Tolkien.
The Gull card layout is from a sketch challenge over at Taylor's blog from March 14th, I thought it was such an interesting layout. I chose to keep the very clean and fresh, kind of like a day at the beach. Although keep that gull away from my lunch!
The Hummer is colored with Copics onto Neenah Solar White, cut out and attached to the pink layer with dimensional foam. A little background: I know there are hummers out there in all sorts of colors, but I really wasn't aware of how many. I had already colored the flowers in with a few shades of pink Copics and decided I better see what a hummer really looks like. So I googled hummingbirds, and there was a picture of an orangish hummer sipping nectar from pink flowers that looked pretty much like the ones I had just colored, so that is why you see this hummer in orange and green. His body is sparkled up with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen to emulate the shimmer of a hummingbird. Oh, and image that ribbon isn't crooked, I noticed it after I had taken the picture and run in through Photoshop!

Oh, LOVE the bird cards Val, you always blow me away!
These are great cards, but I must say...I love the simplicity of the gull very much. Thanks for sharing!
Love these! Especially the bird - it's so your style, and that is perfect!!
I just love the beachy feel of the gull card. Makes me wish I was at the Outer Banks! And the hummingbird is gorgeous! So pretty!
