I always like to take a picture of the first rose of the season, and today there it was when I went out front. We have a tiny rose garden, only about 8 plants, and they are getting ready to bloom, buds are everywhere. This unknown variety (when purchased it was supposed to be a red variety) beat them all. If anyone knows the variety, please let me know. The hummer, well, it was feeding on the salvia we have on our walkway, I've never actually been successful getting a picture of one, they usually fly off so fast when they hear a person approach.
So I stayed back, zoomed in, and snapped away. I was able to get this picture of him (or her) feeding.
Haven't stamped much this week, stay tuned for something over the weekend I hope!

Oh, I so wish I could go home and sit on my patio and enjoy my roses. Unfortunately, that won't happen for another 5 to 6 weeks Ugh !! Thanks for the pic Val, I can almost smell that rose !!
Beautiful pics, Val. I need to prune my roses yet - once frostbitten, forever shy.
Your rose looks a lot like a Peace rose to me - but it might be Double Delight or there is another similar one with a fragrance name that escapes me right now.
I think it's a peace rose - they're subtly 2 colors, pink and yellow.
You obviously do NOT live in northern Illinois! Looks so wonderful. I hear we may get snow tonight. :-(
What better than a hummer.. I look forward to seeing these wonderful creatures every year. Thanks for reminding me that this time is near.

I really do think it is a Peace! LOVELY!
My knockout roses are blooming (I haven't even planted them yet. I have almost 100 plants and the weather has been too rainy or HOT (80s) in Coastal NC on the weekends for me to get them in the ground! Cold weather gardeners - want to visit me and help plant my professionally designed garden? LOL.
I must agree with the previous comments...that beautiful rose looks like a Peace rose to me. Our roses are blooming now too, but I missed getting a photo of the short-lived lilacs when they were in bloom--so beautiful and fragrant.
Beautiful pictures! I agree that it looks like a Peace rose. They have a lighter scent than some other roses. The hummingbird reminds me that I should have my feeder out already!!

Hi Val! I agree with the other posters, looks like a Peace rose to me, and the little hummer looks like a female...she has a plain neck. We have been spying lots of hummingbirds down here in Texas! Time for me to get all of my feeders washed and put out for them.
Thanks for the lovely pictures!
BEAUTIFUL pic of a rose, Val!!
And that hummer - SO SO SWEET!!!! You are so lucky to have captured such a GREAT pic!
Neat, Val! Thanks for bringing something pretty to this cold and overcast day...week...month. hm
