Remember these from yesterday?
All these bleach samples will sit here for decades, well not really decades, but they will sit for a long time until I forget where they are in my stamping area.
I am not a stamper who pre-stamps images, pre-cuts cardstock to have ready, or one who generally has a plan. I wish I was more like some of my stamping friends who keep an art journal with sketches and ideas in it, but I am not. Not that I haven't tried, I have 2 beautiful black leather covered art journals - small and medium, both to be used to jot down ideas and notes and such - however, their pages are still pristine as the day they left the factory.
When I start to create, I often see in my head where it's going or have somewhat of an idea when I start. Most often the stamps or paper speak silently to me. If I need a little inspiration to kick start the process I will check out out the plethora of sketches that are available web-wide, or page through magazines, or even take a trip down memory lane with my own work, or visit the blogs of a favorite or two. But most often I just follow my creative juices and see where it leads. Sometimes it leads straight to the recycling bin a few times before success happens! :)
So, the languishing images will not do me any good here. So here is what I am offering:
Leave a comment here telling me your crafting process. Are you a planner, a fly-by-nighter, a journal keeper, or what? What is your process?
I'll draw a name on Monday, the 18th and announce the winner of all the bleach stamped samples and the card I made - it's a great way to see and feel (most of) the colors of Gina's cardstock if you haven't tried it before!
The fine print:
- Only 1 entry per person
- Must live in the United States
- The winning name will be posted here on Monday evening.
- The winner has 24 hours to email me with their mailing information or another name will be drawn. My email address is available under View My Complete Profile on the RIGHT sidebar.
Have a great weekend!
Valerie~

Such a beautiful rainbow of colors, and your card is gorgeous, Val!!
What a generous offer! I'd love to have such beautiful samples of GK's CS. I'm always evolving as a crafter. I used to be a just sit down and create gal, but with so many non-craft things filling my schedule; I've become a 'tish' more organized. I've started printing/stamping images on a full sheet of white cardstock and then color them in while watching TV. I pull the paper I plan to use (I love the DCWV or BG stacks) and color the whole sheet to coordinate with the paper stack. The next night I pull all the accesories and sketch I plan to use; if time permits I'll start assembling. Otherwise I tuck everything inside the blank card base and can quickly assemble the card when I have a few moments.
Beautiful work. I love this technique. Thank you also for the generous offer to share your talent.
I'd love to try out the Gina K samples! Love your work!
Thanks for this offer!
OHHHHH, fun!! I've done some bleach stamping in the far distant past..... almost forgot it!! Your samples are so pretty, I love the colors. Question, have you used bleach with clear stamps? I've only used it with rubber, and wondered if the bleach would "injure" the clear??? My usual process is much like yours, I just sit down, look around and see what's on my desk at the moment and then begin! I do, however, keep a folder of images, "stuff" and things to use that I often "go to" to start the process, then things just seem to evolve from there! Thanks for the offer to share your "goodies" with some lucky person!!
Hi Val,
I am always impressed with the card designs you come up with. It seems you must work very hard on them.
I usually fly by the seat of my pants. I have a general notion of layering cardstock and then stamping a focal image. I read several blogs every day, including watching StampTV, for inspiration, but usually can't find the stuff on hand to do the project.
Your bleached images are soooo pretty. Keep up the good work. I read your blog all the time. Just poor at commenting.

All of the above! I journal; I keep files; I try things I've found online; and sometimes I have an idea all my own. . .sometimes!
I need all the inspiration I can get! Thanks for offering this fun surprise!
Ohmigosh Valerie! Thanks for the chance to win your bleached samples. I thought it was funny that those 3 didn't bleach out was well as the rest. And totally AMAZED at how wonderful the flower looked once you added color - that immediately went it to my 'ideas to try' folder. Ahem...that's one of the major ways I get inspired - seeing something in a blog post or a website and save it to a desktop folder. I look at everything around me too - distant horizons, billboards, magazine advertisements, commercials, and even TV. I look for colors and patterns and how shadows appear -- and it helps, but then I get stuck mostly on layout. Most of the time I forget that what I've colored will eventually need to go ON a card and then it takes me sometimes 6 to 8 hours to figure out a layout. I haven't quite got the knack for interpreting a sketch layout into a card (but I keep plugging along)...lol.
Great idea to share the bleach samples. I have so much stuff that just sits to be used later--and then soon forgotten. I don't really have a set way of creating. Sometimes it's from a sketch I find online or in a magazine and then other times it's totally my own design. Just depends on my mood and how much time I have to get something finished. I used to see how much "stuff" I could cram on a card, but lately I'm leaning more to the clean and simple style.
I tend to like the clean and simple style using copics on Gina K's super smooth white cardstock. I have some of her colors in deep jewel tones and neutrals, too. I would love your bleached samples on her collection of cardstock. Thanks for the chance to win your samples. I love the art on your blog.

I am a fan of CAS cards. I usually look at the web to start. After getting a few ideas, perhaps colors or design, I go from there. Sometimes I may decide to use a particular set or some discontinued paper and start with that as an idea. From there I may look at the web.
I love this card! I've never tried using bleach, but you may have just inspired me to do so. My creative process is different each time I sit down to get started. I seem to work best under pressure, unfortunately. My best work comes when I'm up against a deadline. I wish I could be more of a planner.
I'm more of a fly by the seat of my pants crafter, but when I do come up with a card idea I make several to have on hand. I've tried the whole journal thing too, but I've never gotten past the first page. ;)
Once I get the time to craft, I make several cards. I then get tired of sending them out so always have leftovers that I can't use! My work area is not as organized as I'd like it to be either. But I do get the projects done which make me happy!!
