GKD Inspiration Hop Day 2

First, and foremost, as I am scheduling this post Sandy is wrecking havoc on the east coast.
My thoughts and well wishes go out to those are in the path of this whopper and who have been affected by the landfall of the hurricane and its aftermath.

We're inspiration blog hopping today with a few of Gina K Designs newest sets.
I am showing Deck the Halls by Beth Silaika, the latest Freckled & Fun set.
This set is a fun image building set with ornaments, lights, a string/wire, toppers and sentiments.

I saw this layout the other day by Lime Doodle and wanted to use it for a card.   I saw it again in a card by Beate.  Well, I still really wanted to use the layout so I hopped on the train and made this card using Deck the Halls.

I love the shape of this ornament, it reminds me of my grandparents and the tree they had in their living room when I was growing up.

Stamps: Deck the Halls clear
Ink: Memento Pistachio and Love Letter, Versafine Vintage Sepia
Paper: GKD Pure Luxury Ivory
Patterned Paper: Authentique Paper Festive Collection
Other: Red satin ribbon, Clip, Notebook Edge die, Corner rounder, Dimensional foam

I also created a package tag using one of the round ornaments and sentiments from the set.

Stamps: Deck the Halls clear
Ink: Memento Pistachio and Love Letter, Versafine Vintage Sepia
Paper: GKD Pure Luxury Ivory, Cherry Red, Fresh Asparagus
Patterned Paper: Authentique Paper Festive Collection

Stuck.

For 2 days I was stuck, I threw out more prototypes than necessary as my creative process was frozen.  To keep the ball rolling on the cards for the troops, I reused a layout from a few days ago with different colors and stamps.  In colors that are a nod to red, white and blue I created this happy card using the cute snowman from Paper Smooches Warm Hearts and the sentiment from Joyful Greetings

A few assembly notes:
Edges of base are DTP'd (Direct to Paper) with white craft ink.
Heart is Stickled for a sparkly heart.
Striped paper clip with a satin bow embellish the image panel.

30 (well actually 36, keeping 2 of each for my own card sending) are done, 40 more to go!

Supplies not mentioned:
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Paper: GKD Turquoise Sea, Neenah White
Patterned Paper: Echo Park
Other: Copic Markers (carefully colored in as ink is not one typically used with Copics), Corner rounder, Dimensional foam

Birthday.....

Box to go with the accordion photo book (post below) because the bag I had on hand was too small.
All supplies the same as the book project.  Box created using the Scor-Pal and customized for the book.  See this post for my tips on creating custom size boxes.

Now, it is finally done for Thursday. :)

Celebrate, Accordion Style~

One of the moms from the novice team is celebrating her birthday this week.  Our novice team is very small so we have all gotten to know each other pretty well since summer and I thought it would be fun to make her an accordion book of pictures of her son playing as a birthday gift.

Paper Smooches Surf and Turf is a fun set to use for the water sports/beach enthusiast and I thought it would be the perfect cover for the book.

The pages are just matted pictures, otherwise the accordion will not lay flat.  A simple coordinated birthday greeting is on the back of the last panel.  When the book is opened up in its entirety all you see is pictures, the decorated front and back face towards the back.

I somewhat followed this tutorial found on the Scor-Pal blog, but altered my measurements to so that the finished book is 4.5"  x 5.5" and has 8 picture panels inside.  The pictures were trimmed down to 4" x 5" and adhered to a slightly larger white mat before adhering to each page of the book.

Into a simple decorated bag and it will be ready for delivery on Thursday.

Time for A Wicked Display~

Yesterday's sneak peek was the black cat panel of this Wicked tag display I created the other day.
I started out wanting to use the smaller sized Boo! panel that was leftover from the day I made the decorated clothespin.  It is much smaller in scale to the one on the clothespin.  It was just sitting there on my counter, looking at me, whispering in my ear to use it for something fun. :) I wasn't really sure where I was going to go when I began.

I was in a emotional funk the day I started this and really needed to escape into the world of creativity for a while.  Escape, I did, for 4 hours!  One thing led to another and I ended up with this fun and spooky display piece for Halloween.

Starting tomorrow I will be posting closeups of the tags with brief instructions on how I created each one, and how they come together into a display that now sits on a shelf in my living room.  As I was creating on the fly and didn't write anything down, a bit of reverse engineering is necessary.

ETA Thursday 10/11/12
After spending quite a bit of time yesterday detailing the first 2 tags and how they were made, there were 5, count 'em, 5 visits to the page yesterday and no comments, so I am not sure it is something that is wanted or needed.  I have reverted it to draft format so it doesn't  appear any longer as it makes no sense to have them remain published.

Wicked!~

Not only a fabulous Broadway play, but now a really cool Halloween stamp set by Freckled & Fun Designs by Beth Silaika for Gina K Designs.

Today we are hoppin' with GKD to showcase Take Note, Wicked and You Say Goodbye
I'm sharing samples that I made with Wicked-Clear

While I am not much of a card sender for Halloween, I do love to make treats and decorations.  My kids are too big for school treats now, however I don't think they would object to a batbox door hanger filled with candy!

These giant decorated clothespins were trending some time ago and when cleaning out a box I have for to be altered items, I found a half dozen or so of them.  Time to put one to use!
For a fun "You've been Boo'd" a decorated giant clothespin left on a coworkers desk might be a fun way to jump start the Halloween time of year.  Add a little bag of candy and let the Booing begin!  Or how about just sitting on a shelf to hint at Halloween in your home office?

Finally, for those who send cards I have created a Halloween card; a stamped spider suspended from the Happy Halloween greeting sets the theme of the card.  With clear sets it is so easy to line up elements to have them become part of each other; the spider and the greeting are separate elements in the set.  A few strips of notched patterned paper, an embossed star background, Halloween twine webbing with a button bow and this card is sure to bring a smile, even to those who are creeped out by spiders!
